East Bay Peace Action maintains literature in public school counseling offices to provide a broader picture of military enlistment

In the interest of students and parents being able to make informed decisions about their future and with District approval, we initiated a Truth in Recruitment project in the West Contra Costa Unified School District.

Since the spring 2007, by mutual agreement, the District Superintendent issues annually a letter to high school principals and related personnel. It authorizes in high school career centers displays of literature such as What Every Girl Should Know about the U.S. Military and What Military Recruiters Don’t Tell You. The letter also authorizes participation in careers fairs at the high schools.

Display racks bear the slogan “Before you Enlist, Get the Full Picture.” These displays are monitored by volunteer members and friends of East Bay Peace Action.
